The Rock Says The Final Boss Is ‘The Greatest Heel Pro Wrestling Has Seen’

The Rock holds his evolution into the ‘Final Boss’ in high regard.

The fourth episode of WWE: Unreal, titled “Heel Turn,” focused on The Rock and John Cena’s respective heel turns in WWE. Cena finally became a bad guy for the first time in nearly 20 years, and The Rock adopted the ‘Final Boss’ persona for his feud with Cody Rhodes.

During the episode, The Rock described the character as the best villain pro wrestling has ever seen. Additionally, he also considers the decision to adopt the moniker to be the most “gratifying” choice he has ever made.

The Rock is very happy with his decision to become the Final Boss

“The Final Boss. The greatest heel professional wrestling has seen. Insurmountable antagonist. There’s nothing that the Final Boss can’t do, there’s nothing that the Final Boss can’t say,” The Rock said. ‘Becoming this new version has been the most gratifying decision that I’ve ever made.”

The Final Boss version of The Rock competed at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. He has made other appearances since then, but has not been seen on WWE TV since Elimination Chamber in February. The Rock says he made the decision to stay “in the shadows” after John Cena turned heel at the same event. He told Pat McAfee that WWE already established a story between Cena and Cody Rhodes with the turn, and he wanted the spotlight to go to them.

WWE: Unreal also featured another Rock-related revelation, as he and former WWE writer / Seven Bucks Productions SVP of Development Brian Gewirtz detailed a pitch he and The Rock made for Elimination Chamber. If the pair got their way, Elimination Chamber would have seen Kevin Owens defeating Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Fans continue to speculate about when The Great One will return to WWE television, some predicting he’ll show up as soon as SummerSlam. However, a recent report suggests that there’s no indication he will be back in the near future.
