Dustin Rhodes took to social media on Saturday to lay a heavy claim against Kyle Fletcher, saying the AEW superstar injured him in a way that will force him to miss some time.
On X, Rhodes reflected on his TNT Championship loss against Fletcher on AEW Collision. After the match, Rhodes said he would need “a very invasive major surgery” because of Fletcher.
“Sorry guys, feel like I failed my fans. Gonna be out for a while as Doc said I need a very invasive major surgery. MRI’s and cat scans this week, due to Kyle Fletcher,” said Rhodes. “In any case, for the time I was the face of TNT was special to me. I will never take what I have for granted. I am in a terrible amount of pain and have a hole in my leg, but that won’t stop me from [Keep Steppin].”
While many fans initially thought that Rhodes was playing up the injury, the star quickly shut any of that down. In a follow-up post, Rhodes simply shared “not a work,” confirming that the star was legitimately hurt and would be out for some time.
It’s unclear exactly what happened to Rhodes, but his match against Fletcher was a brutal one. The pair faced off in a Chicago Street Fight, and featured some extreme spots, including Fletcher driving a screwdriver into Rhodes’ leg.
