Dominik Mysterio doesn’t believe his match against AJ Styles at WWE SummerSlam was his best performance.
At WWE SummerSlam, Dominik Mysterio beat AJ Styles to keep his Intercontinental Championship. During the match, he loosened his boot before AJ could lock in the Calf Crusher. When Styles finally applied the move, Mysterio pushed him into the referee. He then used his boot as a weapon to him and went to the top rope to hit a Frog Splash to win the match.
Speaking with TMZ Sports, Dominik Mysterio and asked how he felt about retaining his title. He responded, “I mean, I’m the greatest Mysterio of all time, so you guys should already know. There’s only one way, and that’s the Dirty Dom way.”
When asked what he did to prepare for the match, Mysterio admitted he did “absolutely nothing. He [AJ Styles] had to prepare for me. It’s my twenty-year anniversary, so AJ had to be ready for what was coming to him and that was Dirty Dom.”
Dominik Mysterio was also asked if he agreed with fans who called this his best performance yet. He said, “No, not at all. I’m only five years into my career. This is just the beginning.” While Mysterio picked up a win over Styles at WWE SummerSlam, Styles addressed the outcome on WWE RAW this week.
Styles admitted that what Mysterio did was clever, but made it clear he’s still coming after the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Styles said that as long as Mysterio holds the title, he’s not backing down.
