AEW is heading to the birthplace of ECW later this month in Philadelphia for a residency at the 2300 Arena. And it appears a new trademark filing will be utilized during their stay.
On August 18, AEW filed for a new trademark with the USPTO for the name “September to Remember.” The description of the trademark reads as follows:
SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling programs and events.
This is seemingly a nod to the ECW pay-per-view November to Remember, which ran from 1993 to 2000.
Last year, AEW President Tony Khan ran a series of events in November, calling it a “November to Remember.” Obviously, AEW wasn’t able to trademark that term, but this changeup is fair game.
WWE is also looking to give a nod to ECW by resurrecting WrestlePalooza next month to go head-to-head with AEW All Out on September 20. Although they might face a roadblock, as F1rst Wrestling has had that name trademarked for several years now.
AEW’s residency in the 2300 Arena will run from August 27 to September 11 with seven different events.
