WWE is in hot water following Becky Lynch’s controversial comments on Ozzy Osbourne‘s passing this past Monday on RAW.
For those unaware, the final episode of WWE RAW before Clash in Paris featured an in-ring promo segment between Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella. After Lynch accepted Bella’s challenge for their Women’s Intercontinental Championship match, the champion proceeded to mock the Birmingham crowd before dragging the late Ozzy Osbourne into the mix.
“You can have your match, but in Paris at Clash because I’m not wrestling in Birmingham,” Lynch told Bella. “The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago, but in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”
The controversial promo prompted a response from Osbourne’s daughter, Kelly Osbourne, who took to her Instagram stories to call out Becky Lynch and WWE for disrespecting her late father.
“You are a disrespectful dirtbag!” Kelly wrote. “Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire. #birminghamforever. Shame on the @wwe for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!”
WWE is considering a public apology after the controversial RAW promo
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, WWE is considering offering a public apology in the aftermath of Becky Lynch’s Ozzy Osbourne promo on RAW.
“I was told WWE is embarrassed, and they’re probably gonna do an apology,” Alvarez claimed. “They may not, but if you look back at how many times WWE has actually apologized for something, it ain’t many. And there’s discussion about doing a public apology. I know they’ve talked about doing a private apology.” (H/T WrestlingNews.co).
Alvarez’s comments aren’t exactly conclusive, pointing out that an apology might not happen. However, it’s interesting to note that it’s being considered in the first place.
