Booker T‘s history of criticizing All Elite Wrestling is known, but the WWE legend recently revealed something that had fans questioning his past comments.
During the recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T was asked if he had watched AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The legend said he hadn’t, and was then made aware of the gummy bear spot during the Lights Out Steel Cage match.
Booker T asked if The Young Bucks actually “sold” the spot. When he was told they did, he then revealed that he’s actually never watched a full AEW show.
“I’ve said it before. AEW is trying to change the way people look at professional wrestling,” said Booker T (via Fightful). “No, I didn’t watch it. That right there is perhaps one of the reasons I would not watch an AEW show. I can honestly sit here and tell you that I’ve never watched an AEW show. I’ve watched bits and pieces. A lot of that has been on the internet. I’ve never sat and watched a show because of stuff like that.”
Booker’s comments surprised fans, as the star has not been shy about criticizing AEW before. The fact that he’s seemingly never watched it, though, had fans questioning his past criticism. As far as AEW goes, Booker T went on to say that he doesn’t feel the emotion from what he’s seen, and likened it to recently going to see Hamilton on Broadway.
“I recently went to go see Hamilton, and it almost brought me to tears. And that’s what art can do,” Booker T said. “AEW? Nah, that ain’t it for me…I will never feel that way walking away from an AEW show. Never. Never in a million years.”
