Bully Ray sees some bright spots in the AEW product, but feels like it’s “lost” overall.
AEW is in the middle of a multi-date residency at the famed 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. This week’s show, although it was an exciting event, still scored a record-low viewership total (for its normal Wednesday 8 pm timeslot) of 472,000 viewers. The show was still the 7th-best show on cable for the night, but it’s still the lowest total besides a Tuesday night Dynamite broadcast in October 2024 that went head-to-head with WWE NXT.
Bully Ray, who regularly reviews shows like AEW Dynamite on Busted Open Radio and Busted Open After Dark, posted the following assessment on his Twittah machine. There, he pointed out that while talent is one of the bright spots, the company lacks a true creative direction.
“Unfortunate, but… AEW, as a product, is lost,” Bully Ray wrote. “There’s certainly some bright spots (talent) – but as a company, lacks definitive direction. Is what it is. A company owned and operated by a fan with lots of $$ TK – Good guy, good heart, not a booker And “the boys” know it.”
Bully Ray’s statement gets a mixed reaction, including a response from AEW’s Ricochet
Fans met his statement with a mixed response, with some disagreeing since AEW was able to draw close to 20,000 fans for Forbidden Door: London and nearly 30,000 for All In: Texas. Others agreed, stating that Dynamite featured a lack of exciting stories.
AEW star Ricochet took issue with Bully Ray’s remarks, responding that he “100% disagree[s] with you.” Ricochet also said Bully’s “the boys” comment was an ignorant thing to say. He responded to another fan, claiming that Bully was just tearing a product down he doesn’t like, just like most of the Internet Wrestling Community. Taking things a step further, Ricochet said he doesn’t think the criticism of AEW is coming from a good place. He said he knows when “someone is purposely being a dick for likes.”
See the thing is when people dont want to like something, they will take shit product from their favorite company and hype it up. While tearing down the product they dont like.

Thats what he's doing. Thats what most of the IWC does.
I agree.

But I also know how to use my common sense and know when someone is criticizing from a good place and when someone is purposely being a dick for likes.
