CM Punk has his wrestling soulmate.
Punk recently appeared on GQ’s Actually Me series, where he revealed his favorite match of all-time was with John Cena. Rather than picking their famed encounter at Money in The Bank in 2011, Punk said his favorite match with Cena took place on the February 25, 2013 episode of WWE RAW.
Punk had just lost the WWE Championship to The Rock at the Royal Rumble the month prior, which also ended Punk’s 434-day title reign. Cena and Punk clashed on RAW, with the winner getting a title shot against “The Great One” at WrestleMania 29.
Punk lost the match and Cena got his rematch with The Rock, while Punk went on to challenge The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania. Despite losing on RAW, Punk called Cena his “wrestling soulmate” and encouraged fans to check the match out.
“Number one with a bullet: myself versus John Cena heading into WrestleMania 29. The winner got the illustrious spot of wrestling The Rock at WrestleMania. Well, I lost,” Punk said. “Big fucking deal. John Cena is my wrestling soulmate, [I] had excellent chemistry with him this night. Crowd was electric, it was a real fun time. You should go watch it.”
During the same interview, CM Punk also shared the hardest part about being a WWE Superstar, at least in his eyes.
