Former WWE star Braun Strowman says his new food show, Everything on the Menu, is for the people who normally aren’t the audience of a food-focused TV series.
In an interview with The New York Times ahead of his show’s debut, former WWE star Braun Strowman said, “I know I’m not this super-educated human being in the culinary arts, but I’ve always been passionate about eating. You don’t get to be 350 pounds by accident.”
The show follows Braun Strowman as he travels to different cities and orders everything on the menu at restaurants. Strowman joked, “Less talky-talky, more eaty-eaty.” Between bites, he shares stories from his wrestling days and his life growing up in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina. He added, “I’m a giant child.” He wants to break stereotypes about large men and women who are often judged by their appearance.
The show’s idea came naturally to him. Strowman usually orders everything on the menu, leaving waiters stunned. Versant, a Comcast that owns USA Network, picked up the show before it even finished filming. Company president Val Boreland was impressed by Strowman’s presence.
Braun Strowman is putting a spotlight on blue-collar foodies
Strowman hopes his show introduces fine dining to everyday viewers and offers a blue-collar take on food.
“I watch some of these food shows and you see these chefs who are amazing. But I get lost because I don’t have a clue what they’re talking about.”
Braun Strowman overcame bullying and doubt to find success. He also grew up in a self-sufficient family, which inspired his love for food and cooking. Proud of his roots, Strowman added, “There’s a lot of dirty rednecks out there, and we don’t get the spotlight always. So this is for you out there. All you NASCAR fans and wrestling fans and foodies around the world that have been forgotten about.”
The first season of Everything on the Menu visits Fort Worth, Las Vegas, and D.C., premiering Friday on USA Network after WWE SmackDown.
