Bully Ray Says CM Punk’s World Heavyweight Championship Win Didn’t Feel Like A Big Deal

Bully Ray believes CM Punk winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event doesn’t feel like a big deal.

Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray addressed CM Punk’s World Championship win and whether Saturday Night’s Main Event was the right place to make it happen. Ray stated that while the execution and the fan reactions were good, it didn’t feel like a big deal.

“It didn’t fit,” Bully Ray said. “Listen, everything went fine, everything was good, everything worked out, no problems. They put the championship on Punk; there’s no negative to what they did, but it just didn’t feel like a big deal.

“Yes, the fans were happy. Yes, the place popped, but it just didn’t feel like a win that really, really mattered. It felt like a win because they had to do something based on what happened to Seth, and I think, subconsciously, that’s in the back of everybody’s minds.”

CM Punk Commented On His Title Win

A day after his victory over Jey Uso, the new World Heavyweight Champion, CM Punk, attended a Utah Mammoth hockey game at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, the same venue as Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Speaking to Nick Olczyk during an intermission, CM Punk talked about his recent title win and also shared what it’s like being back in WWE.

“Yeah, I won the title here last night and a happy accident, I get to come watch some hockey today. I’m enjoying my day off.

“Every day’s been like a dream. Honestly, every day is gratitude. Obviously, I love hockey so much, I draw the parallels between my wrestling career and hockey. And I’m the old guy in the room now,” CM Punk explained. “I’m happy I get to lace up my skates and have the privilege to walk the locker room and the halls with a lot of talented young stars and seeing all the fans, all the places I’ve been all around the world. Getting to revisit stuff and see the young and the old, we all love wrestling, it’s great. It’s been a dream.”
