Matt Cardona talks about his WWE return as Zack Ryder.
Cardona made a surprise return on the November 14 episode of SmackDown. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion showed up as LA Knight’s opponent in The Last Time Is Now Tournament.
During a recent interview with Bill Apter, Matt Cardona shared the timeline behind his WWE appearance.
“In all seriousness, it was a cool moment being out there,” Cardona said. “Just one of those things where I say, always ready. It came about in a couple of days… I’m not going to reveal all the secrets here, but I’ll say this: I had to get Zack Ryder gear made in 24 hours.”

“That is a great question, but just like Matt Cardona, Zack Ryder is always ready. So if the phone rings, we’ll have a conversation.”
Cardona previously wrestled on WWE television last month, losing to Josh Briggs in singles action on the October 7 episode of NXT. This was his first match for the company in five years.
