A title match has been made official for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Talents of the past, present, and future will collide at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend, with John Cena headlining the show in his retirement match against “The Ring General” Gunther. Elsewhere, WWE announced that AJ Styles and Dragon Lee would face two up-and-coming stars in WWE NXT’s Je’Von Evans and TNA Wrestling’s Leon Slater.
In a new update, WWE has confirmed that Styles and Lee will defend their World Tag Team Championships against Evans and Slater at the December 13th event.
“At Saturday Night’s Main Event, World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will put their title on the line against two of the hottest prospects in NXT, the explosive Je’Von Evans and TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater,” read the match preview on WWE.com. “Who will leave as champions? Find out at Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 13 at 8 ET/5 PT on Peacock in the United States and YouTube internationally.”
Styles and Lee claimed the titles in October by defeating The Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh and Finn Balor. Since then, the pair has successfully defended them against The Viking Raiders, The New Day, and Judgment Day.
WWE SNME will mark the first ever in-ring meeting between Styles-Lee and Evans-Slater. At TNA Slammiversary 2025, Styles surprised TNA fans and Slater with his appearance, which included public praise for Slater, the reigning TNA X-Division Champion.
In the case of Evans, an Iron Survivor Challenge victory at WWE Deadline earned him a shot at the NXT Championship. Ricky Saints later spoiled Evans’ title match, resulting in a major loss for him on NXT on Tuesday.
