Ricky Saints shocked everyone on WWE NXT by turning heel during this week’s show.
The show opened with NXT Champion Oba Femi, who was interrupted by Ricky Saints. Saints came out to congratulate him and reminded Femi that they were one–one with each other, so he wanted his rematch.
Moments later, Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge winner Je’Von Evans arrived and said he didn’t want to wait until New Year’s Evil for his title shot. He challenged Oba Femi to a match for the main event of the show.
Saints immediately showed signs of frustration. He questioned why Evans was rushing. Evans stayed determined, and the match was set for the main event. But Saints’ concern turned out to be nothing more than a setup.
In the main event, Evans came close to winning after hitting a cutter and a double-jump cutter. But just as he went for the pin, Ricky Saints suddenly pulled the referee out of the ring. Evans fought back and knocked Saints down, but the distraction allowed Oba Femi to recover.
He hit a big clothesline, followed by uppercuts, and finished Je’Von Evans with a powerbomb to retain his WWE NXT title. After the match, Oba glared at Saints and walked past him. Saints then stared at the injured Evans, making his heel turn clear.
Saints’ actions confirmed his heel turn. He went on X, formerly known as Twitter, posting a GIF of himself while Evans stayed quiet after the loss. It will be interesting to see what happens next after Saints cost Evans the WWE NXT Championship.
