Gunther wishes to share the ring with this WWE legend.
Before he takes on John Cena in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, former two-time World Heavyweight Champion Gunther appeared on ESPN First Take. By the end of the interview, host Stephen A. Smith asked him which wrestling legend from the past he would like to share the ring with.
Gunther replied that he would love to compete with WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. He also said it would’ve been great if the late great Eddie Guerrero was still around.
“Selfishly, somebody that I would love to compete with, I think Kurt Angle would be great if he would [still be actively competing]. He’s somebody I always really enjoyed watching, or somebody like Eddie Guerrero, I think those would be guys that come to mind that would be great to have around right now,” Gunther said.
Booker T Says Gunther Will Be The Ultimate Test For John Cena
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer heaped praises on Gunther, saying he would be “the ultimate test” for John Cena.
“I think it’s the ultimate test for John Cena, to go out there and take on the guy that’s really staking his claim to what’s going on in today’s wrestling, and that’s Gunther.
“Nobody goes out and does it like that guy. He makes it so real, so intense, so right there in your face. There’s no air in between what Gunther does, as far as the camera and watching, it’s as real as it possibly can be. It’s almost like Brock Lesnar in a sense.
“It’s gonna be the ultimate test for John Cena to go out there and show this young guy how good the old guy still is.
“John Cena still has a little left in the tank. He may not be as great as he once was, but he still can be great once. I’m looking forward to seeing exactly how this thing plays out.” [H/T WrestleTalk]
