Timothée Chalamet feels WWE didn’t realize how big this wrestler was back in the day.
Actor Timothée Chalamet was a recent guest on Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About podcast. As a long-time wrestling fan, he felt that WWE was at the intersection of his interests, sports, and pop culture.
He then noted that he was a big fan of former WWE Superstar The Boogeyman and that he feels the company failed to recognize his potential.
“To me, as a big sports fan, big Knicks fan, also a huge fan of acting, and Hollywood, this (WWE) was the intersection, growing up. That is for charismatic on-the-mic guys like The Rock and Stone Cold, but also like Marty Wright, The Boogeyman. Like freaky, out of left field sh*t. He was a Tough Enough contestant. He is sort of one of the most underrated. I feel like they didn’t realize how big he was at the time.”
Why WWE Won’t Run Shows At Hammerstein Ballroom Anymore
Speaking in the same interview, Timothée Chalamet shared that ECW One Night Stand 2006 was his favorite wrestling pay-per-view of all time. He then revealed that he pitched an idea to Triple H for WWE to run a future event at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
However, the WWE Chief Content Officer explained to him why it’s no longer possible.
“I want to go see a show at Hammerstein,” Timothée Chalamet said. “I talked to Triple H. He said it’s basically impossible to make money there. He said there’s one elevator you have to load everything in and out of.”
Cody Rhodes chimed in, saying, “He’s right, and I appreciate that he gave you logistics because at least he was thinking about it. The other thing is, it’s the worst back of house ever. God bless Manhattan Center and Hammerstein. It’s open windows, freezing, there’s no room for anything.” [H/T: WrestlePurists]
