Samoa Joe needs to watch his back because “Hangman” Adam Page isn’t the only AEW star who wants a shot at the world title.
During this week’s AEW Collision, Swerve Strickland took on Josh Alexander in the opening contest. Swerve picked up the win after a great back-and-forth match with “The Walking Weapon.”
After the match, Strickland grabbed the microphone and declared himself the top contender for Samoa Joe’s AEW World Championship.
“I didn’t come back to AEW to face the Don Callis Family,” Strickland said. “I didn’t come back here to face Hobbs and Shibata… Came back here for one damn thing: the AEW World Championship. Samoa Joe, your days are numbered. The walls are closing in. I’m not testing anybody who’s coming after you. Swerve’s the most dangerous man in AEW. I’m declaring myself the top contender for your AEW World Championship.”
Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland have a history in AEW
Samoa Joe defeated “Hangman” Adam Page to win the AEW World Championship at Full Gear in November. After the match, Joe and The Opps were confronted by a returning Swerve Strickland to set up their feud.
Swerve Strickland previously beat Joe for the world title at AEW Dynasty 2024. Joe most recently defended his title against Eddie Kingston at AEW Dynamite: Winter Is Coming.
