WWE Legend Explains Why He Couldn’t Cut Ties With WWE Over Donald Trump

This Hall of Famer explains why he will not cut ties with WWE over Donald Trump.

Last week, Mick Foley announced that he was distancing himself from WWE due to the company’s relationship with The White House. He cited the President’s controversial remarks about actor and director Rob Reiner as the final straw.

Foley wrote on his Facebook page that he will allow his existing WWE Legends deal to expire in June 2026 and will not make any further appearances for WWE as long as Donald Trump remains in office.

WWE responded by removing Foley from the WarGames event in WWE SuperCard, which would have marked the Hardcore Legend’s fifth appearance as the “Saint Mick” character. Foley was replaced by Austin Theory, featuring his new look from RAW.

Kevin Nash reacts to the WWE and Mick Foley controversy

Speaking on a recent episode of Kliq This, pro wrestling icon Kevin Nash shared his perspective on the controversy involving WWE and Mick Foley. Nash explained why he has no plans to cut ties with WWE’s leadership over their links to Donald Trump.

“[Mick Foley] got off the ship, and I thought: man, I get it. If that’s how Mick feels, I understand it from his point of view,” Nash said. “But personally, because there were people who texted me like: ‘Are you going to do the same thing?’, let me explain my position. Paul [Triple H] and I were traveling the road together for a year and a half.

“Paul was the first of the Kliq to hold T [Nash’s son]. He pairs up with Steph and I was at their wedding. I was one of Paul’s best men. I was at the wedding. When I was Diesel, they flew my wife to New York City and Linda took her out for the day. That was the first time my wife visited New York while I was busy shooting a commercial and doing other things. Linda took care of my wife. And I’ll always be grateful for that, because my wife was really nervous.

“I see the McMahon-Levesques, I see them as family. Period. They’re family to me. Linda knows what my political stances are. I remember we were at the [Barclays Center]. That look she gave me was invaluable. Like saying: ‘damn liberal’. And she just looked at me and said: ‘Ah, he’s fine’. I went, gave her a hug and asked her how she was. It’s like. They’re my Republican family. You know? But they’re family.” [H/T: Lucha Libre Online]
