Eddie Edwards is excited to see where TNA goes next, and he hopes that includes a new market that checks a bucket list item off for him.
Edwards will face off with his The System stablemate, JDC (fka Fandango and Dirty Dango), at TNA Genesis on Saturday night. The event will mark JDC’s final match, as he previously announced his plans to retire.
Ahead of the event, Edwards spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about how The System plans to move on after JDC hangs it up for good. The group plans on adding a new member to the group, and Edwards also spoke about some new challenges and goals he wants to accomplish.
Eddie Edwards looks forward to TNA reaching new markets and wants to continue wrestling in new places. One of his bucket list items is wrestling in Alaska, a region that is not very well known for its pro wrestling scene. In recent years, independent companies like WrestlePro and GCW have ventured to The Last Frontier. However, a major promotion like WWE hasn’t been there since 2017, and AEW and TNA have never hosted an event there.
Eddie Edwards wants to break new ground with TNA Wrestling
“I’m very excited to go to these new places. I’ve never been to Albuquerque, so I’m excited for that. After the success of Bound for Glory, I’m like, ‘Hey, come on, you got to come back to Boston.’ I’m a little biased that way,” said the Boston native, “but because of the success of Bound for Glory, I’m like, ‘We have to be going back.’
“There’s one place I would like to wrestle, it would be Alaska,” he continued. “I don’t know if that’s gonna happen. I think that would be cool. But I think [TNA has] done a really good job of finding these markets, where maybe they don’t get the most excitement, or they don’t get pro wrestling, or we haven’t been ever or for a long time, and we’re going there. I’m enjoying it, so they’re doing a pretty good job. I’ll let them keep picking and then just come back to Boston, that’s my goal.”
