Bully Ray believes WWE needs to stay the course with a current storyline in NXT.
Thea Hail‘s controversial win of the NXT Women’s North American Championship has led to a ton of conversation. According to one former legend, though, they believe Hail should keep the title despite what WWE previously had planned.
During a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Busted Open, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray opened up on the topic. According to the former superstar, it would be in NXT’s best interest to simply let Hail keep the belt.
“With all of the controversy surrounding this match and finish from last week, in my opinion, the best thing that NXT can do is leave that championship right where it is,” said Ray. “If Blake defeats Thea Hail at New Year’s Evil, you’re kind of just reinforcing the perception that is out there about the finish of the match from last week.”
According to Ray, he thinks the pair’s upcoming match at NXT’s New Year’s Evil should see Hail come out on top. This way, Ray says, you keep running with the story of Hail being the champion.
“Because the perception was something went wrong, something went awry, something wasn’t right, and now they’re trying to fix it. Don’t fix it, leave it alone. I think it’s really good. I think you run with it. I think there’s a definitive victory from Thea Hail.”
