John Cena has once again sparked major speculation after teasing a “major” announcement for WWE Backlash this Saturday. Many wonder what the 17-time world champion could reveal, and now Bully Ray has offered his own take.
Cena emerged as one of the biggest attractions at Backlash. However, things became even more interesting after he claimed his announcement would “shock the very foundation of WWE.” He also said the news would affect everyone connected to WWE.
Bully Ray speculates on what John Cena’s “foundation-shaking” WWE announcement could involve at Backlash
During an episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray and co-host Dave LaGreca tried to figure out what Cena could possibly announce.
One of Ray’s main theories involved the future location of WrestleMania. He suggested Cena could reveal the host city for a future WrestleMania, similar to how The Rock announced WrestleMania locations in the past.
“I think a WrestleMania announcement is fair. I think much like The Rock announced where WrestleMania was going to be, I think Cena coming out and saying WrestleMania after Saudi is in Nashville, maybe New Orleans, or whatever city they decided to go with. I think that’s a fair announcement. What else would be history-making news? Announcing the next site for WrestleMania, would you use the term ‘history-making news?’ Well, for the first time in history, WrestleMania is coming to Nashville. There’s how you play with those words,” Ray said (H/T –Wrestling Inc).
The conversation later shifted to another possibility.
LaGreca mentioned Club WWE, the company’s membership service that Cena has promoted heavily. The program gives fans special perks, behind-the-scenes content, and exclusive event experiences. Because Cena is closely tied to the brand, LaGreca wondered if WWE could be planning something for the service.
Ray joked about the idea and sarcastically suggested WWE could one day let fans pay for the chance to wrestle a superstar on an episode of RAW.
Another theory from Ray was a physical WWE Hall of Fame building.
“Because it’s just going to take three years to be built, maybe. ‘We’re breaking ground on the WWE Hall of Fame,” Ray speculated.
While WWE already hosts Hall of Fame ceremonies every WrestleMania weekend, the company has never opened a permanent location dedicated to its history and legends. Ray suggested Cena’s announcement might reveal that WWE is finally starting that project.
