Shayna Baszler believes Ronda Rousey isn’t done with pro wrestling.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, former three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Shayna Baszler was asked whether she believes Ronda Rousey has left the business for good.
“I never think Ronda is done. She’s a crazy person. I don’t know. She loves being a mom. It would take a bit, but CM Punk came back. Ronda Rousey can come back,” Shayna Baszler said.
Earlier in the interview, Baszler reflected on Rousey’s final WWE match, which took place against the former NXT Women’s Champion at SummerSlam 2023.
“So I knew (SummerSlam was Ronda’s last match), because I’m very close with her. That was the last date on her contract, because she had planned to have another baby. And that was the plan. I mean, Ronda loves nothing more now than being a mom, and so I knew for a while, for so long we wanted to start that story. I think if we would have had longer, I think that would have benefited us a lot, because I think we did a great job with the time that we had.”
Ronda Rousey comments on her future in pro wrestling
Ronda Rousey previously made it clear that wrestling is mostly in her past.
During an appearance on The Lapsed Fan podcast, Ronda Rousey said she joined WWE to wrestle alongside her friends Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. When asked if wrestling is now in her rearview mirror, she admitted it is.
“Pretty much, I’d say so. I got into WWE because I wanted to be able to wrestle with my girls, you know, the Four Horsewomen and be able to wrestle with my friends. And they kind of dangled that carrot for my whole run and never let it happen,” she said.
Ronda Rousey showed up in Ring of Honor following her high-profile exit from WWE in 2023. Her most recent match to date took place at an ROH taping in November 2023. There, she teamed with Marina Shafir against Athena and Billie Starkz.
