A WWE legend has a brutal pitch for Gunther to defeat AJ Styles on this week’s episode of RAW.
After slapping the taste out of Gunther last week for continuing to gloat over retiring John Cena, AJ Styles will go one-on-one with The Ring General on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW. Ahead of the match, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash has pitched an idea for Gunther to defeat Styles.
Speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash noted that after AJ Styles dominates most of the match, Gunther should thumb The Phenomenal One in the eye and end up making him tap out. He then said WWE should announce after the contest that the thumb caused a detached retina, which would sideline Styles for four weeks.
“I would hope that in that match, AJ would beat him from pillar to post, and out of nowhere, finally Gunther thumbs him in the eye and ends up tapping out AJ.
“And then we find out that AJ’s retina was detached, we put a patch on his eye for four weeks. And everyone that’s ever had a detached retina knows, you’ve got a detached retina you’re f*cked. You ain’t fighting. That pain is unbelievable.
“And then you’ve got because he’s gonna have to cheat to win and then he’ll have heat and he can tell not only did I make that little b*tch AJ tap out, but AJ has to simmer because he has a bad eye. We can get some mileage out of that run,” the WWE legend said. [H/T Cultaholic]
The idea isn’t anything new, as WWE played out this angle in 2020 with Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black during their rivalry with Seth Rollins.
