WWE Star Gets Flowers From Fans, But They Are Half-Assed And Dead

The Miz opens up about his perception amongst WWE fans.

In his current state, The Miz is a complaining, veteran heel, most recently mocking the fans and the locker room on the first WWE SmackDown episode of 2026. Despite that, The Miz has also proven to be a revered figure amongst the fans, with the two-time WWE Champion actually drawing cheers on occasion. Because of this, The Miz says the last year has been “weird” for him.

“The things I do that I know in my rolodex of being a heel and being a bad guy, I’ll do and it doesn’t get the boos anymore,” The Miz told Insight With Chris Van Vliet. “If you’re gonna cheer me, cheer me. If you’re just gonna go ‘Ah! He’s so good,’ I don’t want that. I don’t want that. That’s the death, because that’s just, I don’t know what to really do.”

When asked if he felt the cheers were a sign of respect, The Miz replied affirmatively. Still, he feels those proverbial flowers are half-dead, largely because he “don’t want them.”

“I feel the respect, I feel it in the locker room. I feel it in the crowd, but I’ll hear you say it. ‘Oh, Miz has gotten his flowers.’ You know what kind of flowers I get? I get the ones that are half dead, that you give to me and they’re gonna die the next day,” Miz said. “You don’t give me a full bouquet of flowers that are like, here are your flowers. John Cena gets the flowers. I don’t get the flowers. I get the half-dead flowers that are like, Here you go, here’s your flowers. We’re giving you your flowers. It’s the half assed flowers.”

Later this week, The Miz will take on another respected veteran, Randy Orton, in a qualifying match on SmackDown. The winner of that will then move on to a fatal-four-way at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, where one of the four will become the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
