CM Punk is all about having fun, even if he doesn’t understand why he’s being criticized.
ComingSoon Editor-in-Chief Tyler Treese spoke with WWE Champion CM Punk about his latest acting role in Night Patrol. During the conversation, Treese praised Punk for recently wearing two shirts at a WWE live event, which many fans saw as a response to Kevin Nash’s criticism of him.
Nash recently claimed CM Punk looked like he’s “done” with wrestling and took a shot at him for wrestling in a t-shirt during one episode of WWE RAW on Netflix. Punk then trolled Nash at a recent live event by taking off his t-shirt to reveal another one underneath it.
Nash said his issue with Punk was related to being buried in a 2011 RAW segment. Nash said that Punk mocked him for looking dead when he was 50 years old. Now, Punk is approaching that age and wearing t-shirts to wrestle.
When asked if CM Punk’s response at the live event confirmed that he listens to Nash’s Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash sarcastically replied, “Wouldn’t it be easier to just go to the gym?”
CM Punk admits Kevin Nash’s remarks might have inspired his double t-shirt look
After initially denying that Nash was the reason, CM Punk admitted that Nash’s initial criticism was the genesis of his wearing two shirts. He went on to say that he doesn’t even understand Nash’s criticism. However, he still wanted to keep things light and let people have fun at non-televised live events.
“Yeah, you know what, I can say it had nothing to do with him. But obviously, the genesis of the story was him saying that I wrestled in a shirt, and I never wrestle in a shirt. So I didn’t really understand what the criticism was. But thanks. You’re right,” Punk told ComingSoon. “I did that to make people I was in the ring with laugh. Because when I’m on a house show, to me that’s what it’s about. It’s about having fun.
“If the fans see us having fun, they’re having fun. I like to keep it light,” Punk continued. “I like to make people laugh when I’m on the road, and I’m away from my wife, and people are away from their families. That’s our family while we’re on the road, and I’m kind of the joke-y guy. I’m gonna have fun on a house show.”
Drew McIntyre has no problem taking digs at CM Punk, either. The new WWE Champion recently referenced the beef with Nash by claiming he doesn’t need a t-shirt to look like a champion.
