Roman Reigns WWE WrestleMania 42 Plans Have Significantly Changed — Report

You can forget about seeing another match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania this year; it’s no longer happening.

Last year at Survivor Series, the seeds were planted for a third match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42. But after last week’s title change on SmackDown, that is no longer the plan.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roman Reigns is now the “odd man out” of the WWE Title picture following last week’s episode of SmackDown. His direction will become clearer at the Royal Rumble when he makes his return to programming.

As it pertains to the WWE Championship, the current plans are either a rematch between Rhodes and Drew McIntyre or a triple threat with Jacob Fatu. With both the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber being used to determine WrestleMania challengers, it will be interesting to see how this ends up playing out.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
