ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is still teasing the possibility of getting involved in WWE, and he recently revealed exactly who he would want to work with if that ever happens. According to Smith, if he were to become a heel manager in WWE, his top choice would be Roman Reigns.
Over the past few weeks, Smith has frequently talked about WWE and joked about playing heel on TV. During a recent episode of his podcast, Smith brought Danhausen as his guest. The conversation came up to the point when he was asked whether he had ever considered managing a WWE Superstar.
Stephen A. Smith’s WWE aspirations continue to gain momentum
Smith admitted that he has thought about it and already knows who he would want to manage.
“I’ve thought about doing the heel manager thing. Should I do it? Smith asked. Danhausen asked in return, “Who would you manage?”
Without wasting a second, Smith replied, “I don’t know. Roman Reigns…Maybe.”
When asked if he acknowledges the Tribal Chief, Smith said, “I acknowledge him. He’s big time…I wouldn’t have somebody that’s small time,” Smith said.
Stephen A. Smith has been mentioned quite a few times in WWE TV lately. Ahead of WrestleMania 42, Danhausen even jokingly put a curse on him. The playful feud continued for a while, with Danhausen also claiming responsibility for bringing bad luck to Smith’s favorite team, the New York Knicks. However, the two finally called a truce later.
Smith’s larger-than-life personality, confidence, bold opinions, and ability to grab headlines might even make him a natural fit for a WWE manager role.
Interestingly, Smith’s comments come not long after Roman Reigns himself seemed open to the idea of working together.
During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Smith joked that there might be room for him next to Reigns. The OTC took a subtle dig at his previous manager, Paul Heyman and played along with Smith. That even triggered a response from Heyman.
