Nikki Bella Wasn’t Invited To John Cena’s WWE Retirement, But Still Got Criticized Over It

Nikki Bella says WWE didn’t invite her to John Cena’s retirement match.

Following their return at the 2026 Royal Rumble, WWE Hall of Famers The Bella Twins appeared on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast. During the conversation, Paul asked about Nikki Bella’s reaction to John Cena’s retirement match against Gunther and why she wasn’t in attendance.

Nikki Bella shared an honest answer, saying that despite being sad over John Cena‘s retirement, she didn’t have any emotion for the moment. Bella also shared that she got heat from the fans for not attending Saturday Night’s Main Event and revealed that WWE never invited her.

“I guess I didn’t have an emotion to it. Meaning, I was sad at the fact that he was retiring, but I was having a lot of fun at the Flyers game too. That I got a lot of s**t for. People acted as if I was invited to his last match and I denied the request. I wasn’t invited,” Nikki Bella said. “So I was at the Flyers game because the Eagles were playing the next day, so I was in Philly. It was more sad about him retiring. And I just wanted his run to be the way he wanted, so as long as he’s happy, I’m happy.” [H/T Clutchpoints]

John Cena and Nikki Bella dated from 2012 to 2018 and even got engaged at WrestleMania 33 in 2017. The couple broke up in April 2018, called off their engagement, and canceled their wedding, which they had planned for the following month. Speaking in the same interview, Bella also shared that it felt awkward at first when she saw John Cena backstage in WWE after their breakup.
