AEW’s Rebel Details Physical Decline After Pulmonary Lymphoma Diagnosis

AEW star Rebel has shared an emotional health update about her pulmonary lymphoma diagnosis.

Last year in November, Rebel, whose real name is Tanea Brooks, shared that she was diagnosed with primary pulmonary lymphoma, which is a type of lung cancer. At the time, she shared that doctors believed that her case was curable.

Rebel revealed that she is currently staying at an inpatient rehab hospital while continuing her fight against primary pulmonary lymphoma. And the road hasn’t been easy for the AEW star.

Rebel Discloses Health Struggles After Cancer Diagnosis

Rebel has been dealing with serious health issues since May 2024. She developed a neurological disorder that has affected how she moves and speaks. In a recent Instagram video, she opened up about how much her body has changed and what she is doing to get stronger.

She said she checked herself into a rehab hospital because outpatient therapy wasn’t helping enough. She decided a more structured, full-time rehab program would be better as she waits to hear the next steps from her doctors.

“Right now, I am in the hospital, but for a good reason. It’s a rehab hospital. I’ve been trying a few different rehabs, and I’m just not getting great results, so I was able to, while I’m waiting for my doctors to figure out what to do next,” she said.

“I’m doing speech therapy for my speech, and chewing is difficult and swallowing. So I’m getting speech therapy for that. I’m getting occupational therapy for being able to raise my hands. My hands are clawing. It’s very hard for me to open a Ziploc bag, or cook, brush my teeth, put on deodorant, wipe myself. It’s a lot, guys. It feels like I have 40-pound weights hanging off my wrists [when I] try to lift them, so everything is a workout,” Rebel added.

Physical therapy is also helping her work on her walking and balance. “And I’m also getting physical therapy, and that will help with my walking and my gait. Right now, I’m walking with a walker. I am able to walk without the walker, but I am a big fall risk,” Rebel said.

Even with everything she’s facing, Rebel is staying hopeful. She shared that when she was home, she struggled with self-pity. Now, seeing other patients who are going through even tougher situations has changed her perspective.

We wish for her speedy recovery.
