Demolition finally got the call.
WWE confirmed that Demolition will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The highly-decorated tag team will be inducted into the 2026 class of the Hall of Fame, joining AJ Styles and Stephanie McMahon as this year’s inductees.
The Undertaker initially made the announcement, which was later confirmed by WWE on social media.
“One of the greatest tag teams of all-time will make history once again as Ax and Smash of Demolition enter the WWE Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2026, as announced by The Undertaker. Two words described the ultimate goal of Demolition — pain and destruction,” WWE wrote in its official announcement. “Synonymous with tag team greatness, Ax and Smash now enter the Hall of Fame where their legacy will live forever.”
Demolition’s WWE Hall of Fame induction is long overdue
Demolition had one of the most dominant WWE World Tag Team Championship reigns of all time. Their 478-day reign was a record that stood for 28 years until The New Day beat it with a 484-day run in 2015-16.
Despite being such a popular act in WWE’s “Golden Era,” Demolition had inexplicably gone without a WWE Hall of Fame induction. Demolition’s Bill Eadie (Ax) believed the duo’s past lawsuit against WWE kept them from getting inducted. However, he believed recent history opened the door to it being more likely.
“Well, we never had an objection to going in (the WWE Hall of Fame). There was a lot of politics involved and now it’s changed like you say. Hopefully, the change for the better with our relationship. But we’ve never been in contact with anybody from the office. And like you said before, the only person that made the decision for anything before was Vince (McMahon), and we weren’t on Vince’s ‘like list,’ I guess. But, we’ve never objected to being inducted,” Ax said. “We’ve never objected to being included in anything with WWE. So, quite possibly could happen. But one thing we haven’t done, we haven’t lost any sleep over it.”
Demolition signed WWE Legends deals in 2025. The team was also invited to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony in 2024, but had to turn it down due to prior obligations.
