Joe Hendry is no stranger to the world of wrestling, but recently revealed what he learned from CM Punk and John Cena that he now always remembers.
Speaking to The Takedown on Sports Illustrated in a recent interview (via Fightful), the current NXT Champion said that he’s now more interested in things like crowd draws than ever before. A lot of that, he says, comes from Punk and Cena, two notorious stars who know the business both in and out of the ring.
“Anytime I get to a live event, my first question is I ask where are we at with the draw? Where were we last time? I learned from that from — CM Punk does that, John Cena does that,” Hendry said. “All of the top talents did that so, I’ve tried to learn as much as I can from these guys. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time with these guys, I’ve learned from them.
“That is one thing I’ve noticed — they are very hands on with the stats and knowing how they are. Yes, it’s pressure, but in his game pressure is a privilege.”
As for Hendry, his star only continues to rise. The current NXT Champion only made his WWE debut in 2024 after years on the independent circuit, but already is one of the most beloved stars in the world of professional wrestling.
