The March 16 episode of WWE RAW delivered an unexpected update on Dominik Mysterio, raising questions about his immediate future just as multiple storylines begin to heat up.
While Mysterio has remained active across promotions, the latest development suggests his recent in-ring activity may have come at a cost.
With momentum building around him, the timing of the update could prove significant — and not in a good way.
Dominik Mysterio Not Medically Cleared Following AAA Title Defense
During RAW, commentary confirmed that Dominik Mysterio is currently not medically cleared to compete due to a head injury sustained outside WWE.
The injury occurred on March 14 at AAA’s Rey de Reyes event, where Mysterio successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo del Vikingo in a No Disqualification match.
The bout featured heavy weapon use, including steel chairs and trash cans. During the match, Mysterio took a chair shot to the head that resulted in a deep cut, leaving him visibly bloodied. Despite the damage, he secured the win with a 619 followed by a Frog Splash.
However, the victory came with consequences. An image shared by Mysterio after the match showed the extent of the injury, highlighting a significant cut on his head.
On RAW, Michael Cole confirmed that the injury has sidelined Mysterio, meaning he will be unable to compete until cleared. For a superstar who often lives on the edge, this was a case where “Dirty Dom” may have flown a little too close to the steel — and paid the price.
The timing of the setback is notable. Mysterio had been pursuing a rematch with Penta following his recent Intercontinental Championship loss. Additionally, tensions within The Judgment Day continue to evolve after Finn Balor’s exit from the group.
With Mysterio temporarily out of action, those storylines may move forward without him — at least for now.
As RAW rolls toward WrestleMania, Mysterio’s status remains uncertain. And in a business where timing is everything, this injury could prove to be more than just a bump in the road — it might delay his next big moment.
