The March 31, 2026 episode of WWE NXT saw the special guest referee Josh Briggs turn a normal match into an interference-filled match and a personal fight at the end.
The match between Keanu Carver and Jasper Troy had been building for weeks. Carver had been causing trouble in NXT, even targeting Booker T and interrupting his appreciation night. Troy, on the other hand, saved Booker and stopped Carver multiple times. That led to Robert Stone booking a match between the two.
Nevertheless, both wrestlers are so aggressive that no referee wanted to handle the match. That was when Briggs stepped in. However, it soon became clear he had his own plans.

The chaos started before the match even began, as Carver attacked Troy during his entrance. Briggs managed to get things under control and start the match, but it didn’t stay that way for long. Both men fought hard, and the action quickly spilled outside the ring.
At one point, Carver confronted a fan outside the ring and then went on to Booker T. But just then, Troy came from behind and slammed Carver through the announcer’s desk with a big chokeslam, getting a huge reaction from Booker T.
He again hit a Black Hole slam on Carver in the ring and pinned him. But Carver kicked out, which frustrated him. Troy then got in Briggs’ face and shoved him.
That turned out to be a big mistake. Briggs snapped and knocked Troy down with a big boot and changed the momentum of the match. Carver took advantage of the situation and hit a running powerslam to get the win, thanks to Briggs getting involved.
But things didn’t end there.
After the match, Carver told Briggs to raise his hand. Briggs did it, but then suddenly attacked Carver with a big clothesline.
In the end, Josh Briggs left both men down in the ring and stood tall, making a strong statement.
Later backstage, an angry Carver confronted Robert Stone. Because of everything that happened, Stone announced a triple threat match for next week- Briggs vs. Carver vs. Troy.
