CM Punk has once again turned up the heat on Roman Reigns ahead of WrestleMania 42. He questioned the Tribal Chief’s consistency during a recent sit-down with Corey Graves.
While the exchange started with respect, it didn’t take long before Punk shifted gears — and, much like a well-timed heel turn, the tone changed quickly without giving away the full game plan.
CM Punk questions Roman Reigns’ part-time status ahead of WrestleMania 42
CM Punk began by acknowledging Reigns’ priorities outside the ring, particularly his commitment to family. “I think anybody would be a fool to not look at Roman and respect the fact that he puts his family above everything else,” Punk said, adding that those priorities are “right.”
However, the respect came with a receipt — and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion didn’t pull his punches. “But it’s real hard to sit back and look at a man who will do that and be a part-timer and think that that’s okay,” he said, framing the issue as one of responsibility rather than personal choice.
For Punk, the criticism goes beyond attendance. He positioned the debate as “pro wrestling versus cinema,” suggesting that being a top WWE star requires more than selective appearances — it demands weekly presence and consistency.
To drive that point home, Punk pointed to other locker room leaders. “I don’t wanna say anything nice… but Seth seems to balance things perfectly fine. My good friend Cody Rhodes seems to balance everything super fine. Why can’t Roman?” he said. It’s a comparison that lands like a stiff chop — simple, direct, and hard to ignore.
The comments align with Punk’s recent stance that consistency is his “superpower,” treating regular appearances as both craft and obligation. In contrast, he continues to paint Reigns as someone who “calls the shots” without carrying the same weekly load.
As WrestleMania 42 approaches, this feud has become less about who hits the biggest move and more about who shows up. This is a storyline where being present might matter just as much as being dominant.
Punk and Reigns are set to collide in a high-stakes championship clash. This battle of philosophies will finally be settled inside the ring.
