Nikki Bella had a special WrestleMania 42 moment planned, but an untimely injury kept it from fully coming to life.
The Bella Twins were reportedly set to compete in a Women’s Tag Team Championship match on WWE WrestleMania Saturday. The original lineup was expected to feature Nikki and Brie Bella alongside Lyra Valkyria and Bayley, as well as Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, all challenging Nia Jax and Lash Legend.
Those plans changed after Nikki suffered a foot injury on SmackDown in the lead-up to the event. Despite pushing to compete, she ultimately did not receive medical clearance. Nikki still accompanied Brie for her entrance, where she introduced the returning Paige as her sister’s replacement partner. Paige and Brie went on to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in the fatal four-way match.
Adding to the “what could have been,” a fan account on X revealed that Nikki had collaborated with renowned shoe artist Mache to create custom sneakers specifically for WrestleMania. However, due to her injury, fans didn’t get to see her debut the unique footwear.
“Nikki had custom kicks made that she was going to wear for the WrestleMania match. Unfortunately, we will need to wait a little longer to see those kicks in action,” the post noted.
Nikki later shared a clip of her foot injury on social media, giving fans a glimpse of what kept her sidelined on one of WWE’s biggest nights.
