WWE‘s Seth Rollins walked off the Good Morning Football set after the host continued to take shots at him and brought up Becky Lynch.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has been a recurring guest on the NFL Network’s morning show Good Morning Football. However, his recent appearance turned heated ahead of Day 1 of the NFL Draft. Co-host Kyle Brandt compared Rollins competing at WrestleMania at 39 to Aaron Rodgers playing in the NFL at 42.
“The bottom line is wrestling at WrestleMania is more difficult than playing in the NFL at 42, especially if we’re talking about Aaron Rodgers again,” Seth Rollins said. “They’re playing the quarterback position because these guys don’t get hit. They’re protected nonstop, they don’t get touched, they can get down if they want to. WrestleMania is not like that.
“You’re there, there’s no hiding anything.” Looking at a clip of his match at WrestleMania 42, Seth Rollins said, “Look at this, there’s Gunther, it’s physical, it’s painful. The first powerbomb I took in this match nearly concussed me. I really had a hard time finishing the match. I was in a lot of pain, and then I have to eat that (spear) from that young kid (Bron Breakker). Rodgers isn’t taking sacks like that. There’s no hiding is my point. You have to go out there, you have to put everything on the line, everybody’s looking right at you, you don’t get the opportunity to sit down.”
Seth Rollins said he felt attacked
Seth Rollins then addressed Kyle Brandt, saying, “And yeah, it does feel a little bit personal. I feel a little attacked that I’m being compared to Aaron Rodgers by you, and I’m wondering why is Kyle attacking me. He came from a reality TV show, actually, he’s really never done anything athletic in his adult life, and he wants to come at me. So, it’s a little frustrating for me.”
Brandt then responded to Rollins, saying playing in the NFL at 32 is more impressive than wrestling at 39. He claimed that any seventh-round pick in tonight’s draft can go off the top rope. He then took shots at the WWE roster, saying half of it are people in their late 30s and 40s.
Brandt then took a shot at Seth Rollins, saying, “NFL at 42 is like Ric Flair in his bleeping 60s. We’re talking about a real sport, not pre-determined, 22 people. I figured out what it is with Seth. You’re a little nervous because it’s Night 1 of the draft, and you know that next year you’ll be Night 1 only at WrestleMania.
Seth Rollins finally has enough and walks out
Seth Rollins had had enough by that point. The WWE star noted that he didn’t have to do the show while being treated like this. Rollins lost all patience when Brandt brought up Becky Lynch.
“If Seth’s gonna go, maybe we can get Becky to come in and actually win something, that’s how it works for you guys,” Brandt said. Rollins then took his earpiece off and walked out of the set after throwing a towel in Brandt’s face.
However, fans speculate if the incident could be a work and lead to a program in the coming days. The NFL vs. pro wrestling debate has been going on hot since Logan Paul’s recent banter with Tom Brady and a challenge for a $1 million boxing fight with any football star. However, Paul backed off the challenge after saying WWE officials didn’t allow him to compete.
