Dominik Mysterio Made An ‘Easy Transition’ From WWE to AAA

Chavo Guerrero has praised Dominik Mysterio for making the transition from WWE to AAA look effortless.

WWE announced that it had acquired Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide during the WrestleMania 41 countdown show in April 2025.

That announcement led to a Worlds Collide event on June 7, 2025. In the main event, El Hijo del Vikingo defeated Chad Gable to retain the AAA Mega Championship. Vikingo later dropped the title to Dominik Mysterio at another Worlds Collide event in September.

During a recent interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Chavo Guerrero spoke highly of Dominik Mysterio’s ability to seamlessly move between promotions.

“Well, yeah. You just say Dominik Mysterio right there. That’s the story that started in WWE, and it’s such an easy transition for him to go to AAA. I don’t think he really changed his style much. It just resonates with both companies,” Chavo said.

“I don’t think every storyline can do that, switching between companies and styles with different fan bases, because fans are used to a certain way of doing things. WWE fans are used to a different way of doing things.”

Chavo Guerrero recalls standout match with Rey Mysterio in Mexico

Elsewhere in the interview, Chavo recalled WWE’s return to Mexico after several years, noting that he and Rey Mysterio were in the middle of a major SmackDown feud at the time, even though RAW was the brand scheduled to run the Mexico City show.

“I remember the first time WWE went back to Mexico after years away. Rey Mysterio and I were in a big feud on the SmackDown brand, while RAW was the one that went to Mexico City,” Chavo said.

Despite that, both were asked to appear. He explained that instead of going fully lucha libre, they blended an American wrestling style with lucha elements, which connected well with the crowd.

“They asked Rey and me to be on that show, and we did. We didn’t work a full lucha libre style, we worked an American style with lucha sprinkled in, and they got it.

“We were in Mexico City at high altitude, the air was super thin. We went 20 to 25 minutes and just killed it. I’ve got to say, we just killed it.

“We walked out of there with our chests pumped up, basically looking at everybody else like, ‘Follow that one.’”
