Questions about Brock Lesnar’s WWE future have only grown louder since WrestleMania 42, especially after the company moved him into the alumni section on WWE.com.
However, a new report suggests WWE may not be fully closing the book on “The Beast Incarnate” just yet.
According to PWInsider, Lesnar is still internally listed as an active performer within WWE despite the public-facing alumni change.
The report added that Lesnar remains classified as a “Free Agent,” meaning he has not been assigned to either WWE Raw or WWE SmackDown.
That update comes only weeks after Lesnar’s emotional WrestleMania 42 loss to Oba Femi. Following the match, Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring while Paul Heyman looked visibly emotional at ringside.
WWE later leaned further into the retirement presentation with tribute-style video packages across RAW and SmackDown.
Lesnar was also moved into the “forever” portion of SmackDown’s opening video package. This move felt less like a spoiler and more like a final pinfall.
Brock Lesnar’s internal WWE status leaves the door open
Heyman later discussed the moment during an interview with TMZ Sports and strongly denied knowing Lesnar planned to retire beforehand.
“If I knew he was gonna retire, would I have gone on record saying he was gonna dominate for the next 15 years?” Heyman said. “I was crying. Am I that good of an actor that I can cry on cue?? Not I.”
Despite WWE publicly framing WrestleMania as a farewell, PWInsider’s report paints a more complicated picture behind the curtain. Reports suggest WWE keeping Lesnar listed internally as active leaves room for another appearance or even one final match down the line.
For now, The Beast has faded quietly into the night since WrestleMania 42. Still, while the retirement angle looked airtight on television, WWE may not be ready to F-5 the possibility of another return completely out of the equation.
