Oba Femi’s weekly destruction tour on WWE Raw took another violent turn on May 11 after nobody in the locker room stepped up to answer his open challenge.
Rather than accepting the cancellation, “The Ruler” decided to create his own match by force.
Femi entered the ring expecting another challenger after launching the open challenge concept following his WrestleMania 42 victory over Brock Lesnar.
However, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce interrupted to announce that nobody backstage was willing to answer the challenge that night.
Pearce apologized and officially canceled the segment, but Femi clearly wasn’t interested in hearing the final bell.
The powerhouse stormed out of the ring, marched through Gorilla Position, and confronted members of Los Garza backstage. Without much discussion, Femi physically dragged both Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo to the ring to start an impromptu Handicap Match.
Safe to say Los Garza picked the wrong time to be caught relaxing backstage. Nevertheless, that segment turned into a handicap match faster than a surprise Money in the Bank cash-in.
Oba Femi continues RAW open challenge dominance
Once the bell rang, the match quickly became another showcase of Femi’s power. He overwhelmed both Garza and Carrillo with repeated corner attacks, heavy throws, and backdrops before finally planting Carrillo with his “Fall From Grace” powerbomb for the pinfall victory.
The open challenge has become a recurring part of Femi’s RAW run since April 27, when he formally issued the challenge to the roster after defeating Lesnar at WrestleMania.
One week later, Otis answered the challenge. However, he suffered a similar fate after being pinned with the same finishing move.
This week’s segment reinforced the growing perception that few — if any — members of the RAW roster are eager to step in the ring with Femi right now. Even when no opponent volunteered, the former NXT powerhouse still found a way to make his presence felt.
