Sol Ruca suffered a setback on the May 11 episode of WWE Raw, dropping a hard-fought singles match against Iyo Sky less than one week after officially signing with the red brand.
While the loss halted her early momentum, the performance itself may have left a stronger impression than the result.
Ruca formally signed her exclusive RAW contract during the May 4 episode after first appearing on the “RAW after WrestleMania” edition on April 20. That unofficial debut ended in a loss to Liv Morgan following interference from former NXT rival Zaria.
However, the match against Sky marked her first clean singles defeat since officially joining the roster.
The bout quickly turned into a showcase of speed, athletic counters, and high-risk offense. Ruca opened with several smooth reversals before her opponent shifted momentum with a dropkick and grounded offense.
From there, both women traded momentum swings that had the crowd reacting like they were watching a Money in the Bank ladder match without the ladders.
Ruca nearly scored the biggest win of her young RAW career after connecting with an avalanche cartwheel DDT that pushed SKY to the limit.
Later, she countered Sky’s diving moonsault attempt by getting her knees up before trying for the Sol Snatcher.

The finish came seconds later when Sky narrowly avoided the Sol Snatcher and caught Ruca in a sudden crucifix pin for the victory.
According to the match recap, the closing sequence looked chaotic at first glance but ultimately came together smoothly and protected both competitors in defeat and victory alike.
Sky’s win continued her momentum following WWE Backlash, where she defeated former mentor Asuka in an emotional singles match. Meanwhile, Ruca’s performance reinforced why WWE moved quickly to officially sign her to RAW despite her recent losses.
Although Ruca now starts her official RAW run at 0-1 in singles action, the match suggested WWE still sees significant upside in the rising star. Sometimes a loss can still land like a near fall — and this performance kept Ruca firmly in the conversation moving forward.
