WWE star Charlotte Flair recently opened up about the real-life tension she shared with Becky Lynch during their famous rivalry. Flair admitted that both stars wanted to be the top name in WWE, which naturally created competition and tension between them.
Their feud reached another major moment in 2021 during the controversial WWE Women’s Championship exchange segment after both stars switched brands in the WWE Draft. The segment later became known for going off-script because of real-life backstage tension between the two.

Speaking on TMZ Sports’ Inside The Ring, Charlotte Flair was asked whether personal animosity between wrestlers can help improve feuds and matches. She said, “Do I think that it helps? Well, I guess personal tension could help make matches better. No, I mean, yeah. I just think with Becky and I, we both want to be on top. It was just like with Sasha and I.”
“We both want to be on top. Anytime you get two alphas in the room and they want to be the best, there’s gonna be tension. And I think that’s how it should be. If you’re not in the game to be the best, then what are you doing? Becky and I were always like that. As she got better, I got better. As I got better, she got better. You want competition. Competition breeds competition. It’s how you get better.”
