WWE Clash in Italy just added another major championship match to its growing card, and this one comes with plenty of unfinished business from WrestleMania 42.
During the May 22 episode of SmackDown from Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, Rhea Ripley officially accepted Jade Cargill’s challenge for a rematch with the WWE Women’s Championship on the line.
While Ripley already “weathered The Storm” once at WrestleMania, Cargill clearly isn’t done chasing gold just yet.
Ripley opened SmackDown by addressing last week’s confrontation involving Cargill and her allies.
The champion admitted the attack only “pissed her off” and made her eager for another fight. She then made the rematch official for Clash in Italy on May 31.
The title match will mark Ripley’s first defense since capturing her fourth main roster world championship at WrestleMania 42.
Since then, “Mami” has been pulled into ongoing issues with SmackDown newcomers Fatal Influence, while tensions have also started brewing between Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.
Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill set to run it back at clash in Italy
Before heading to Italy, the rivalry will spill into Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ripley, Flair, and Bliss are scheduled to face Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab in a six-woman tag match.
Clash in Italy is shaping up to be one of WWE’s biggest international cards of the year. The event will also feature Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther, while Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu in Tribal Combat.
Another WrestleMania rematch involving Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi is also expected, assuming Femi signs the contract presented by Paul Heyman.
For Ripley and Cargill, however, the spotlight now shifts toward Italy — where one of WWE’s biggest rivalries is set for another chapter.
