WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has addressed claims that he hates AEW. The wrestling veteran recently responded to the criticism and rejected the idea, explaining that people often confuse criticism with hatred.
During a recent Q&A episode of Booker T Mailbag, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked a very blunt question about why he hates AEW. Booker T did not back down when answering this hot-button question.
“Why do you hate AEW?’ Why would somebody make a statement like that and say I hate AEW? That is the most ludicrous thing I ever heard in my life.”
Booker T explains why he does not hate AEW
According to Booker T, some fans mistake criticism for hatred. He says that has never been the case and thinks people can confuse criticism with hatred.
The WWE Hall of Famer also pointed out that several wrestlers connected to him work for AEW. Because of that, he has no reason to root against the company.
“But I got students, and wrestlers, working in that company. When somebody can put a roof over their head, pay their bills, and take care of their kids, you think I’m gonna hate on that? Are you serious? Are you serious? People need to get a grip on themselves and start going after people that hate AEW, okay? Because me personally, I lose no sleep thinking about hating on anybody in this day and age, at the age I’m at right now.”
“So me personally, big up to AEW. Do I think things could be different sometimes? Do I see things that I comment on sometimes? Yes. But do I hate AEW and wish it did not exist? No, that’s not what I’m here for, all right.”
Several AEW stars have trained under Booker T over the years. That list includes names such as Sammy Guevara and Athena.
