Road Dogg Expected at TNA Slammiversary Amid Backstage Role Rumors

Road Dogg is reportedly expected at TNA Slammiversary amid rumors that he is taking up a backstage role in the promotion.

Recent reports suggested that former co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown, Road Dogg, has been internally discussed in TNA as a potential replacement for Tommy Dreamer, who recently departed from the promotion. Dreamer, who served as a co-head of creative in the company, announced his exit last week.

Amid all the speculation, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has reported that Road Dogg is expected to be at TNA Slammiversary this Sunday. He also noted that the promotion initially pitched him as a possible producer, but says he could step into a different role following Tommy Dreamer’s exit. Some sources also believe he could join the creative team. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp added that Road Dogg has been in talks to join TNA creative for “a number of weeks.”

One source said Road Dogg’s close relationship with WWE NXT head writer Johnny Russo could only mean a positive for the NXT-TNA relationship.

Another name is also reported alongside Road Dogg for a role in TNA

In a separate report, PWInsider noted that the TNA creative team will see Vice President of TV Production Eric Tompkins working “hand in hand” with Hunter “Delirious” Johnston on creative. It was described to Johnson as seeing Thompson and Delirious as co-heads of creative, but it was not a 100% confirmation.

Road Dogg recently stepped down from his role as co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown in March 2026. He later explained that he chose to leave because he felt the promotion no longer needed him. It will be interesting to see whether he lands a significant role in TNA Wrestling in the coming days.

TNA Slammiversary will take place at the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, this Sunday. The show will take place the same day as AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door and WWE NXT Great American Bash.
