Steve-O has spent most of his career doing wild stunts and putting his body through things most people would never attempt. But when it comes to returning to WWE nearly 20 years after his memorable RAW appearance, the Jackass star says it’s not happening.
Steve-O’s WWE moment came back in October 2006 when he and fellow Jackass star Chris Pontius got involved with Umaga on RAW. The segment became a memorable crossover between WWE and mainstream entertainment.
Steve-O has no desire to outdo his WWE RAW match with Umaga
In a recent interview with ClutchPoints, Steve-O looked back on his time in WWE. He explained why he has no interest in stepping back into the ring. While some people may see wrestling as another form of stunt work, Steve-O said he has a lot of respect for WWE Superstars and what they do. He also believes today’s wrestlers are doing even more impressive things than when he appeared on WWE TV.
“Oh no, I don’t view any of the wrestling antics as child’s play. I mean, those guys are gnarly, man. And I think that increasingly over the years, the bar just gets higher and higher for the acrobatic feats,” Steve-O said.
His last WWE experience clearly left an impression on him. Steve-O considers it the perfect ending to his wrestling story.
“You’re likely aware of my featured match on Monday Night RAW where I went up against Umaga with Chris Pontius. That’s a bar that I don’t wanna mess with, man. I don’t want to try and outdo that,” he said.
While WWE has continued utilizing celebrities over the years, he feels his WWE experience is best left as it is.
Another reason for that decision is his physical condition. After decades of dangerous stunts, injuries, and physical punishment through Jackass and other projects, Steve-O knows he needs to be more careful these days. “I gotta be a little careful with my body at this point,” he admitted.
