Tony Khan Says He’d Consider Buying TNA for the Right Price

Tony Khan says he’s open to buying TNA Wrestling, but it’s not a top priority.

During Thursday’s AEW Forbidden Door media call, Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston asked Khan if he would consider buying TNA Wrestling if Anthem Sports & Entertainment were to put the company up for sale.

Tony Khan entertained the question and first asked Thurston to pitch him a hypothetical price. Thurston said $40 million, which got an immediate ‘no’ from the AEW owner. Khan ultimately went into more detail and praised the company, noting that TNA does have plenty of assets and value.

However, it’s not something that he’s actively considering, although he might at the right price.

“It’s not something that I’ve had any serious conversations about,” Khan said. “So, like a lot of things in life, it could be an interesting purchase if the price was right.”

Khan said that’s also true about a lot of things in life, noting how there are expensive cars he’d love to own. No matter what the purchase is, price is still always a consideration.

“At that number, no,” Khan said of the hypothetical $40 million price tag. “Absolutely not. [laughs] But it’s a good thing to ask about, I guess.”

Anthem Sports & Entertainment first invested in TNA in October 2016. The company went on to purchase a majority stake in TNA on January 4, 2017, and formed the Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions subsidiary.

Tony Khan has owned AEW since founding the company in 2018; Khan announced that he had purchased Ring of Honor, including its brand assets and video library, from Sinclair Broadcast Group in March 2022.

During the call, Tony Khan also commented on Jack Perry’s AEW contract status, sharing that he hopes to have him in the company for a long time.
