Sami Zayn’s first appearance following his shocking Undisputed WWE Championship victory has been announced.
Sami Zayn shocked the world and proved his doubters wrong at the Night of Champions Premium Live Event this past Saturday, and defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. He delivered an emotional speech after the match and celebrated with the Riyadh crowd.
While fans have already started speculating about what’s next for him, Sami Zayn is set to make his first appearance as the Undisputed WWE Champion on the upcoming episode of SmackDown. Wade Barrett announced it during the NXT Great American Bash broadcast on The CW, saying he can’t wait to hear from Zayn this Friday.
It’s worth noting that this week’s episode of SmackDown won’t air live, as it will be taped on Monday at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It will be part of a double taping after WWE RAW airs live on Netflix.
While the promotion hasn’t advertised him yet, Sami Zayn’s first live appearance on SmackDown as the WWE Champion could take place on the July 10 episode at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
While Gunther has seemingly moved on to a feud with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, it will be interesting to see if Sami Zayn will continue his rivalry with Cody Rhodes. There’s also the chance of Oba Femi coming after him and the championship, as he earned himself a world title shot at SummerSlam after becoming the 2026 WWE King of the Ring.
