Eric Young reportedly asked for his release from TNA Wrestling, and WWE is expected to bring him back.
TNA Wrestling announced earlier today that they have come to terms with the release of former two-time World Champion Eric Young. Now, Fightful Select‘s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that Young requested his release from the promotion.
Young reportedly worked for TNA Wrestling without a contract for a long time, but had recently signed a short-term contract, something which is said to have become the norm in the company. The report also noted that he has always maintained a good relationship with Triple H, and WWE sources have said the door is open for his return.
Eric Young re-signed with WWE in November 2022 but never appeared on television. Following his exit only a few months later, he revealed during an interview that he was originally planned to return in a stable with Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy.
According to the report, Triple H never wanted Young to leave the promotion in 2023. However, he decided to ask for his release after learning that Vince McMahon had once again become involved with the company. It’s also said that he never left his house for WWE when he re-signed, and that he had to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement upon getting his release.
WWE sources Fightful spoke to noted that they expected Eric Young to return to the promotion, though they were unclear about his specific role.
