Veteran WWE star Natalya, now going by Nattie, was the target of some harsh words on the July 7 episode of WWE NXT. Rising star Jaida Parker questioned why Nattie had returned to NXT at this stage of her career.
Nattie and Jaida Parker’s rivalry on WWE NXT has become a deeply personal battle between a veteran and a rising star. The tension started in May after Parker lost a match and was seen venting her frustration backstage. Nattie called Parker “soft” and claimed she didn’t have the mental toughness needed to succeed in professional wrestling.
Since then, both wrestlers have taken shots at each other. Parker crossed a major line by invading and attacking Nattie in her training facility “The Dungeon.” Recently, both had a match where Nattie forced Parker to tap out.
Jaida Parker takes as shot at Nattie’s career
WWE aired a video package featuring Jaida Parker, who spoke about her recent issues with Nattie. Parker admitted that Nattie got into her head after making her tap out to the Sharpshooter, something she said had never happened to her before.
However, Parker made it clear she isn’t trying to become the wrestler Nattie wants her to be. Instead, she believes the loss has only made her stronger.
Parker then accused Nattie of coming to NXT to revive her own career instead of helping younger talent.
“It’s funny because you want to tell people you came to NXT for me. B*tch please you came to NXT to make your stale a** career relevant again, and congratulations, you did it,” Parker said.
Parker added that while both of them are trying to move forward, her goal is to take Nattie down and prove she belongs at the top of NXT.
The promo continued WWE’s recent style of mixing real-life facts with storyline, with Parker taking shots at Nattie’s long WWE career and recent character change.
However, while Parker’s comments fit the storyline, they don’t really tell the full story. Natalya is still one of WWE’s most respected and accomplished veterans. NXT often pairs experienced wrestlers with younger stars to help them grow. Natalya has worked with talents like Lola Vice, Roxanne Perez, and now Jaida Parker, helping them gain experience before moving to the main roster.
