WWE Intercontinental Champion Penta is open to the idea of using a six-sided ring for a future event. He believes it would be a fun way to change things up, especially now that WWE is working closely with AAA.
Penta knows the six-sided ring well. Before joining WWE, he wrestled in both AAA and TNA, where the six-sided ring became a cornerstone of the shows. With WWE introducing and incorporating more lucha libre influences, Penta thinks the idea could work here too.
Penta believes WWE can do anything
During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Penta was asked whether he prefers a traditional four-sided ring or a six-sided ring.
“Six-sided, dude,” he replied immediately.
His response led to a discussion about whether WWE could ever use a six-sided ring for a special event. The hosts then asked if he had ever mentioned the idea to WWE CCO Triple H. Penta didn’t say whether he had spoken to Triple H about it, but he believes WWE can do almost anything if it wants to.
“Why not? You know, why not? Now in these times, WWE can do everything. I just need to put imagination for everything in the job, and why not,” Penta said.
The conversation then turned to a possible SummerSlam match where Penta would defend the Intercontinental Championship inside a six-sided ring.
“Will be amazing, my man. Will be amazing like that,” he said.
The hosts also suggested using the ring at a future WWE and AAA crossover event. Penta once again said he would be ready.
“Yeah, why not, bro? Penta is ready for everything. No matter the ring, six, eight, ten, no matter what. Penta always ready for the war and to defend my Intercontinental Champion. No matter what, no matter who, and no matter where,” he said.
While WWE has always used a traditional four-sided ring, the six-sided ring has cemented its status as a massive part of wrestling history. TNA introduced it in the mid-2000s. However, they switched back to a regular ring in 2010, brought it back in 2014 after fan demand, and then retired it again in 2018.
