Dakota Kai (Charlie) says she didn’t see her WWE release coming.
Appearing on Ring The Belle, the former WWE star reflected on being let go by the company in May 2025. Kai admitted the decision caught her by surprise, especially because she felt she had started building momentum on television.
“It was one of those things where I thought, ‘I’m finally getting some traction, I got a new song,’ and things like that, so it caught me off guard too,” Kai said.
Though the release was unexpected, Kai acknowledged that it is simply part of the wrestling business.
“At the end of the day, it is business, for better or for worse.”
Rather than dwelling on the setback, Kai is looking ahead to the next chapter of her career. She said she’s excited by the freedom to wrestle new opponents and already has a long list of dream matches in mind.
“Now I can just do what I love and go out there. I’ve got a whole bucket list of girlies I want to wrestle.” [H/T F4Wonline.com]
Kai was among several WWE talents released earlier this year. Since then, she has made a handful of independent appearances, including competing at Pro-Wrestling EVE: Wrestle Queendom VIII, where her performance earned praise from AEW star Will Ospreay.
